A Manifesto from the Wooden World

Dear friends, dear children.
A short time ago we were thinking of what our workers should produce, to make work for them. We came up with the idea of toy manufacturing.

Why toy manufacturing?

Shops are full of toys, aren’t they? Nice and colorful toys for boys, lots of toy cars, fighters, dinosaurs and characters who-knows from where. For girls there are lots of dolls that speak, with removable clothing, little furniture and accessories. Everything is colorfully packaged in see-through boxes, so it gives the proper feast for the eye.

Stores also have various construction kits and plastic pieces which can be connected to make various constructions and objects. They all are very good toys, but mostly very expensive.

Then there are toys made of wood, which sometimes compete with their plastic cousins in how wild colors they can have and those an also be very expensive. The price is understandable, considered the way they are made.

Regardless of all the warnings from the experts of the toy industry, we decided to start our own production.

We wanted to manufacture toys that are different. Toys that are simple, made of natural materials, well-priced and attractive. Finally, we wanted to give our toys their own life.

That’s how the idea to create "The Wooden World" was born.

Dear friends, the Wooden World was created for you, especially for your children. What does the Wooden World offer you? A return to childhood, when few wooden pieces were enough for playing and for being happy. Fantasy and imagination completed the presumably "missing" parts and that’s what toys should do. Let’s give the children again the opportunity to get inspired, to use their own fantasy and their own imagination.

If we give children toys they can shape into something using their hands and their own ideas, the will not consider these toys to be throwaway objects.

Good toy should work as a visual starting point for the children. Our "Wooden World" is a return to toys less detailed; a return to simplicity and to natural materials.

Good toys should lead children toward development of ways to communicate with others. Good toys help to teach how to get along, how to cooperate and to view the world in positive light. Many of the toys on the market today do not have these attributes and often do the opposite. That’s another reason for our creation of the Wooden World.

Every world, including the wooden one, is connected to some era. Our Wooden World is part of the Wooden Age. That there’s never been Wooden Age? That’s because the Wooden Age is still coming. Neither our Wooden Age nor the Wooden World should remain just our fantasy or a project that has been closed and completed.

To the contrary, we see here a space for us and for you that’s truly open. A space where we can, together with you, stimulate development and realization of ideas meant to preserve the world we created for next generations of children. So our Wooden Age and Wooden World should stay alive, unfinished and unending. Living world, however, needs someone who lives there. In our world, the one made of wood, live "little people".

Who are the "little people"?

Little people are wooden dolls with small bodies but big souls - even bigger ones then we men have.

Why?

Because they are decent, they do not lie or steal, and they do not do any harm to other little people. They were given by their creators fine manners, broad-mindedness, friendliness and willingness to help those who are in need. We hope they will remain that way with you. We would like to create with you a common vision of Wooden World, a world without enmity, anger and hate.

Finally, we would like to remind you of one fact that’s very important to us. Our little people are not discriminated against according to their race, religion, or nationality. These attributes do not have any importance in our Wooden World of the Wooden Age and play no role there. The term “national interests" is unknown. The only way to label little people is according to the ways they treat other little people – whether they are decent or not. Decency is the only virtue held in esteem by the little people from Wooden Age.

We were brought to this outlook at the world by historic experience and the truth that there is no race, nation, or religion without evil-doers. By the same token, there is no race, nation or religion that lacks decent people. And only the latter should prosper as inhabitants of this world. That’s how it has been already established in our Wooden World of the Wooden Age.

We wish you and your children a lot of pleasant time with our (your) little people in the Wooden World of the Wooden Age.
